Henry Slattery will miss this weekend’s clash with the Saints after suffering a heavy knock to the ribs during the club’s loss to the Power.

Essendon football boss Paul Hamilton has hailed the courage shown by Slattery who returned to the ground to play out the match despite being in significant pain.
“Henry is feeling very sore and sorry at the moment,” Hamilton said on The Recovery Room.
""He suffered some bruised ribs which was highlighted after the game by the coach.

“The courage he showed to go back on the ground was fantastic. He was in a lot of pain yet he went back on the ground and tackled and did everything he usually did.

“He kept throwing his body on the line and it was unbelievable courage from a guy who was in a lot of pain.

“At the moment he is very sore so he won’t play this week and we are not sure at this stage how long he will be out for.”

In better news for the Bombers, emerging backman Darcy Daniher has been given the all-clear to play this weekend after overcoming a corked quad.

“Darcy should be fine this weekend because we stepped up his training last week,’ Hamilton said.

“He just needs to get through the training sessions this week to prove he is right but we are really looking forward to having him back because he has had an interrupted season so far and he is the type of player we would love to have available to us.”
