Essendon has lost its second consecutive pre-season match, this time suffering defeat at the hands of the Western Bulldogs by 28 points at Colonial Stadium. The Bombers started well, but inaccurate kicking proved costly for the Dons. The Bulldogs fought back to lead at half time, and took control in the last quarter to run out easy winners. Jason Johnson was superb all day, with solid performances also from Mark Mercuri and Mark Bolton.
The Essendon VFL side has turned in another solid performance defeating the Western Bulldogs by 41-points, today at Whitten Oval. It was an impressive team performance and Essendon coach Terry Daniher singled out rookies Marcus Kenny and Adam Winter who both played solid games. ""It was a good team effort out there today. The team tried hard all day and the final result highlights this,"" Terry Daniher said after the match. Regular senior players Justin Blumfield and Mark McVeigh also were key contributors - playing four good quarters. The pair will be pushing for senior selection next week.
