Bomber coach Kevin Sheedy indicated at training this afternoon that he will make changes to the team that defeated Geelong by six goals last Friday night. Sheedy hinted he will bring back ruckman Steve Alessio after a solid performance for the Bendigo Bombers and said Jobe Watson is no certainty to retain his place. ""Steve has a good opportunity to come back. We have to consider playing two ruckmen. Some clubs play one but it can get dangerous coming into a very important second half of the season like we are. We think if we have our best experienced team out there we should be able to play our best football - and that is what it is all about,"" the four-time premiership coach said.

""On form Watson might find it difficult to get a game again, but we haven't even had selection yet so it depends on how most of the selectors feel about it - I am pretty open minded about it. It was a huge week for him last week - it is probably a good week to get out of the way.""

Essendon knows it must continue to get the runs on the board if it wants to feature in the September action. And that means they need to back up last Friday night's performance against Geelong with another win. The Bombers have struggled to find consistency this season and only won two games in succession once. ""It has been difficult to string wins together, so we just have to make sure we get back and play consistent footy for more than one week. I think we have a better side available now than in those previous weeks,"" Sheedy said.

James Hird returned last week and played a starring role in defence. Sheedy was happy with the coaching panel's decision to play the skipper in the back half and said he might line-up there for the remainder of the season. ""I just think playing Hird at half-back was the right thing to do last week. We have done it before when he has come back and it has played quite well for us.""

Another player that returned to football last week after a long time on the sidelines was Aaron Henneman. It was the first time the 22-year-old has played all season and the positive for the team is that he got through the entire game. ""It is great to see Henneman get a game under his belt. He is the sort of player that everyone has forgotten about, but we have a high opinion of him. He is probably still another two weeks away from seniors but he is very athletic player, so he will come on fairly quickly,"" Sheedy said.
