As a now annual fixture in Dreamtime Week, and on the eve of the club’s immense role across The Long Walk activities and Dreamtime at the G’, Essendon Football Club welcomed community members to the club from all over Australia on Friday.

A combination of both students and footballers from the Tiwi Islands, Wadeye, Broome and Port Augusta were all been invited to the club to watch training and support Essendon’s players prior to Saturday night's blockbuster against Richmond.

Guests to the club had the opportunity to tour the club’s state-of-the-art True Value Solar Centre, receiving an inner sanctum look at the club’s elite training areas.

Additionally, traditional Indigenous games were conducted on the club’s community oval and Walk the Talk education sessions ran across the course of the day.

Essendon Football Club Head of Community Cameron Britt explained the day had become very special for the club.

“We generally have a wide range of visitors across Dreamtime Week, but we all look forward to the traditional Friday before the game when we welcome Indigenous communities from all across our country," he said.

"To see their eyes light up when they meet their favourite player, or just to step foot into an elite AFL facility, is very rewarding. We probably take our ability to do this every day for granted, but we certainly feel privileged to be able to share it with our partner communities.”
