Essendon VFLW remains undefeated in 2022 after recording a resounding 79-27 win over Carlton at Ikon Park.
Round three’s 52-point thumping of the Blues was the side’s third-straight win of 2022 and continued the Bombers’ high-scoring start to the season.
The Dons were unstoppable form the get-go, kicking three unanswered goals to take a 20-point leading into quarter-time, before another exceptional second quarter saw the side grow its margin to a 46-point buffer at the main break.
With Amelia Radford (25 disposals) and Georgia Nanscawen (22 disposals) dominating the midfield, the Dons continued to pile on the scoring in the third quarter and add another three unanswered goals to lead by 63 points at the final break.
The fourth quarter proved to be the first time Essendon has lost a quarter of football this season, with a three-goal-to-one final stanza from Carlton putting some respectability back into the scoreline to ensure the game didn’t blow out to a greater margin.
Frederica Frew can lay claim to kicking half of her team’s goal tally after booting six goals in an incredible display. Renee Tierney contributed strongly with three goals, while Grace Dicker kicked two.
The win sees the Bombers clear on top of the VFLW ladder with a healthy percentage of 595.3 per cent.
Round four will see Essendon face seventh-placed Williamstown at the NEC Hangar on Saturday at 11am AEDT.
