Essendon forward Tom Edwards will likely miss the remainder of the 2025 season, with scans confirming today that he has ruptured his ACL.
Edwards suffered the injury during Tuesday’s main training session and underwent scans later that afternoon which confirmed the extent of his injury.
General Manager of AFL Daniel McPherson said everyone was shattered for Tom.
“We’re all for feeling Tom. He’s worked so hard to get his opportunity at AFL level, and so for this to happen so early in his AFL career is devastating for him.
“Tom will consult with a surgeon tomorrow morning and finalise the course of action from there. The players, coaches and staff will continue to support him during this time.”
Essendon will continue to provide further updates on Edwards rehab and recovery.
