What end of the ground will Aaron Francis play?
Fans got their first glimpse of Aaron Francis in the backline last week and he looked right at home. However, he has shown that he has the ability to make the switch up forward. Francis’ best effort in front of the sticks came for Essendon VFL against Werribee, where he kicked three goals. The Coaches did shift him to the forward line briefly in the last quarter where he was able to create a contest. Will they give him an extended run in the opposite half this week? Francis’ strong, courageous marking could provide the Bombers with a very handy target.
Who will stop Josh Jenkins?
Josh Jenkins is one of the danger men in the Adelaide forward line. His ability to lose his man, get open and then kick goals has seen him kick 47 so far this year. The last time that the two teams met Jenkins kicked three goals. While the logical match-up would be Michael Hartley, the job may fall to Patrick Ambrose. Ambrose has only conceded 1 behind to his direct opponents in his last two matches. His agility, endurance and toughness around the ball may see him as a more appropriate match-up for in form Crows.
What did we learn from Geelong from Adelaide?
The Cats celebrated a win over the Crows last week, and there were many lessons to be learned. One of them, was the Cats’ ability to heap the pressure on the Crows’ midfielders and, therefore, force them to rush their entries inside 50. The Cats' defenders also worked well together to consistently outnumber the Crows' forwards. An ability to do this, while also getting the ball into our own forwards will give us the best chance against a rampant Adelaide outfit.
