The AFLPA MVP Awards, which are to be held on Monday night in Melbourne, are fast becoming one of the most respected and prestigious awards in football.
Watson has been nominated by his fellow Bombers players on the back of a superb 2010 season, with the skipper playing 21 games – in which he collected 20 or more touches on 19 occasions.
Joining the trio as nominations from the Bombers is Heath Hocking as the club’s most courageous player, while youngster Ben Howlett was nominated in the best first-year player category.
The AFLPA MVP Awards are the only awards determined by players themselves.
The winner will be announced on Monday 6 September at Melbourne’s Crown Palladium and will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1 from 9.30pm.
Essendon key position player Michael Hurley has finished with two votes at this year's NAB AFL Rising Star awards at Crown Palladium. Jake Melksham also secured a Rising Star nomination this season but did not poll in the final votes. The Ron Evans Medal was awarded to Dan Hannebery from the Sydney Swans who finished a clear winner with 45 votes.
