Established in 2014, the Purple Bombers is the official diversity and inclusion supporter group of the Essendon Football Club.
Its committee meets regularly, working hard at creating and establishing a strong and diverse coterie group and setting the foundations of a strong, safe and accepting supporter group for all.

Each year, Purple Bombers will have a number of offerings for its members around special merchandise to help show support and increase awareness along with a number of special events and meet-ups throughout the year usually associated with Essendon home games.
The Essendon Football Club is committed to creating safe environments for all supporters, AFL and AFLW players and staff, by encouraging and promoting diversity, and acceptance within the wider football community.
The club's Round 21 game against West Coast at Marvel Stadium will be our annual celebration with the Purple Bombers which celebrates diversity and inclusion.
Behind the scenes, Purple Bombers is partnering with other like-minded organisations to work on AFL-wide initiatives in the hope of creating a safe workplace for all LGBTIQ players and supporters.
Ultimately, it aims to assist Essendon FC and the AFL in being leaders of change by creating a safe environment for LGBTIQ supporters and players, by encouraging and promoting diversity, and acceptance within the wider football community.
