Community Game

The Essendon Football Club's AFL Community Game is an initiative to celebrate the club’s diverse fan base and introduce more people to Australian Rules Football. The event aims to make AFL and AFLW games accessible and welcoming, particularly to new fans and community members from various backgrounds, including culturally diverse groups, Indigenous communities, local organisations, local sports clubs, and the disability inclusion community.

Challenge

Essendon FC and Challenge join forces annually, bringing awareness around the issues faced by children living with cancer, and their families. Each year, a specific game is dedicated to the cause, where the Bombers’ guernsey features a yellow armband and the Challenge logo. Challenge is a not-for-profit organisation that provides daily support for children and families living with cancer or a life-threatening blood disorder from the time of diagnosis, through treatment and beyond.

The Long Walk

The Long Walk, held annually in the lead-up to the Bombers' Dreamtime at the 'G match, was inspired by Essendon great Michael Long's walk to Canberra in 2004 to get the lives of Indigenous people back on the agenda.
