Essendon Football Club has secured pick No.8 in the 2024 AFLW National Draft after facilitating a trade request by forward Amber Clarke to St Kilda.

The Bombers now hold picks 8 and 11 in the upcoming draft.

Clarke was drafted with pick No.4 in the 2022 AFLW National Draft.

An inaugural member of Essendon’s AFLW side, Clarke played 29 games for the Bombers over three seasons, kicking 14 goals.

AFLW List and Recruiting Manager Georgia Harvey acknowledged Clarke’s contributions and the value of securing another first-round draft pick.

“Amber has been an important part of our team since we entered the AFLW competition, and we thank her for her dedication and effort over the past three seasons,” Harvey said.

“While it’s always difficult to see a player move on, pick No.8 provides us with a strong opportunity to further enhance our list.

“We wish Amber all the best in the next stage of her career at St Kilda.”
