ANDREW Lovett was in sizzling form on Saturday night against arch rivals Carlton in his first game of the season, receiving two nominations for the Toyota AFL Goal of the Year.
The first nomination came in the second quarter when Lovett skilfully collected the ball off the ground near Carlton’s 50m line to charge forward, take two bounces and kick a brilliant goal from outside 50.
His second nomination came during the third quarter when the game was in the balance. Lovett ran hard to collect the loose ball, handballed it over to Jobe Watson, found good position to receive the handball back, then held his composure to outrun two Carlton players and kick another brilliant goal.
