There will be a number of events taking place before and during Saturday’s game against North Melbourne, as part of Essendon’s push to ‘Stand Up for Equality’.
The day is about showing support for the LGBTIQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer) community.
On Saturday the Purple Bombers will play an AFL 9’s match against the Blue Roos from 11:45am until 12:15pm.
Leading up to the match between the Bombers and the Kangaroos, Purple Bombers President, Jason Tuazon-McCheyne, and Oscar Yildiz from Bully Zero will address the crowd and there will be a powerful video shown on the big screen.
The Purple Bombers and Bully Zero will form a guard of honour as the Essendon players enter the field.
At half time, there will be an interview with Angie Green, the Founder of Stand Up Events, and ‘Connected’ - a musical about cyber bullying - will perform.
The Essendon Football Club is committed to showing support for the LGBTIQ community and wants to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all supporters, regardless of race, religion, gender or sexual orientation.
