Essendon’s maiden VFLW finals series will continue on Saturday when it faces Collingwood from 12pm at Victoria Park for a spot in the VFLW Grand Final.
The AFL confirmed on Tuesday that the Bombers and the Pies will play off in a semi-final after Essendon finished the highest-placed winner from the two elimination finals.
Collingwood, which is undefeated and finished the season on top of the ladder, had a one-goal victory over the second-placed Geelong to advance to the semi-finals, while Essendon defeated Casey by three points in an elimination final.
If the Bombers were to win on Saturday, they would progress straight to the VFLW Grand Final on July 25 at IKON Park, while the loser would play against the winner of Geelong and Southern Saints.
Crowds are permitted at the second week of the VFLW finals but must adhere to the current government protocols to keep players, staff, officials and fellow fans safe.
All matches throughout the finals series will be broadcasted live through the VFLW’s YouTube channel, with the Grand Final to be broadcasted through Kayo Freebies.
