Orazio Fantasia has resumed light running as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury.
The small forward who has booted 38 goals this season injured his hamstring against Carlton and was ruled out for around five to six weeks.
High Performance Manager Justin Crow said the Club would continue to monitor Fantasia’s progress.
“Orazio was back doing some jogging and running progressions on Monday,” Crow said.
“He’ll run again tomorrow and he’ll keep progressing through his hamstring rehabilitation and we’ll obviously update everyone as we get a better indication on his progress.”
Tom Bellchambers missed last week’s match against Adelaide with a foot problem.
He’s expected to be available for this Saturday night’s match against Gold Coast provided he can get through training this week.
“Tom got his foot stomped on the weekend before, obviously with Tom’s history we want to be careful with that,” Crow said.
“He’ll go out tomorrow and train and we’re hoping he’ll be ok to get through that training and then play.”
Fellow big man Matthew Leuenberger took a knock to the leg against the Crows and will be monitored over the next few days.
“’Leuey’ just got a kick on his achilles, again he’s got a background with that injury in his past, particularly in his time at Brisbane,” Crow said.
“We’re going to wait for that to settle down.
“He’s a chance to train tomorrow but he’ll need to keep showing improvement day after day.
“We’ll get a better feel for where he’s at later in the week.”
Mitch Brown is a chance to play in the VFL this week.
The versatile tall has suffered two serious ankle injuries this season, but is nearing a return.
“Mitch Brown is going to train flat out tomorrow and do all of the main skills,” Crow said.
“If that goes well, we’ll be weighing up at the end of the week whether he plays some game time in the VFL this weekend.”
The news isn’t as good for Jackson Merrett and Ben McNiece with the pair ruled out for the rest of the year.
Merrett injured his ankle two weeks ago and a surgical review in recent days confirmed his season was over.
McNiece is making progress in his recovery from a neck problem, which stemmed from a whiplash issue.
But he’s been advised to avoid contact training in the next few weeks and as such has been ruled out for the year.
