Essendon Football Club is pleased to announce another re-signing in the past 24 hours, with Alec Waterman agreeing to terms to extend his contract.
Set to remain on the rookie list again in 2022, the forward has re-signed with the Bombers for another year.
Waterman’s signature follows that of emerging ruckman Nick Bryan, who put pen to paper on Tuesday until at least the end of 2023.
Waterman, 24, joined the Bombers earlier this year via the pre-season supplemental selection period.
The former Eagle made his long-awaited AFL debut in the Bombers’ 75-point win over St Kilda at Marvel Stadium in round three.
He’s played six senior games this season, kicking two goals on four occasions for a total of nine majors.

Waterman said he was thrilled to remain at the Bombers.
“This club took a chance on me earlier this year, and I want to repay the faith they’ve shown in me,” Waterman said.
“Since the moment I stepped in the door I was made to feel welcome, and I’ve loved the environment under ‘Truck’ (Ben Rutten) and what this playing group is building towards.
“I want to keep learning and building my game to contribute in taking this group forward over the next couple of years. I’m stoked to be a part of such a great footy club who has a bright future.”
General manager of list and recruiting Adrian Dodoro said it was due reward for Waterman, who had shown considerable determination and resilience throughout his journey to a second chance in the AFL.
“Previously from Claremont Football Club, Alec was selected as an SSP player in March and has worked really hard since arriving at the NEC Hangar,” Dodoro said.
“He has shown significant improvement in a short period of time and we know he will continue to train hard and apply himself to his craft and develop his game to keep playing his role for the side.
“We’re pleased to see Alec remain in the red and black for at least another year. He’s a fantastic young man who deserves this opportunity.”
