Three Essendon players have accepted fines for their part in Saturday afternoon’s half time melee with St. Kilda at Etihad Stadium.

Michael Hibberd, Tom Bellchambers and Jake Carlisle have all accepted $2100 sanctions with an early plea for a 2nd offence of engaging in a melee.

It is the second offence of engaging in a melee for all three players meaning they receive a $2800 sanction, which is reduced to $2100 with an early plea.

Contact between St Kilda’s Ahmed Saad and Essendon’s Courtenay Dempsey from the fourth quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed.

It was the view of the panel the force used was below that required to constituted a reportable offence.
