New recruit Paul Chapman is expecting to play majority of his time in the Bombers forward line during the 2014 season.

The 251 game veteran officially joined the club on Friday afternoon in a trade with Geelong for pick 84 in the national draft.

Chapman said he was expecting to play majority of his football in the forward line but had not ruled out a midfield role if required.

“At the moment I believe it will be more forward than midfield but obviously I love playing in the midfield so I will be trying to get myself as fit as possible,” Chapman told BomberTV.

“Bomber has said depending on the game I may play more time in the midfield then forward or vice versa but whatever happens I am just looking forward to doing my bit.”

“I am really looking forward to getting stronger and having that confidence again that my body will be ok.”

Chapman was a key part of Geelong’s premiership triumphs under coach Mark Thompson and said he would happily take on a similar leadership role if called upon.

“If that is something that the club want to do then I would be more than happy to get involved with that (the leadership group),” Chapman said.

“I think the best thing for a football club is not just for the leadership group to have a say on everything. I think you need to hear from everyone and siphon it from there.”

“Whether I am in there or not I think I will still be trying to help develop the young kids as much as possible anddoing what is necessary for the team to be better.”

The Norm Smith medalist said he was blown away after a visit to his new home at Melbourne Airport on Monday.

"I walked in and what a great facility it is, everyone had a massive smile on their face and whatever happened last year can be left at Windy Hill and we can now focus on a fresh start," he said.

“I have never seen anything like the indoor centre here, it is so big.

“Bomber had explained to me what I was walking into but I didn’t picture it as he told me. They are great facilities and no doubt they will play a part in making us better.”

Chapman is expected to officially be presented with the number three guernsey in the next few weeks.
