After one of the most memorable ANZAC day wins ever, Essendon will now face a tough opponent in Brisbane at the Gabba this Saturday night.

An important factor in securing a win will be limiting the impact of champion Lions forward, Jonathan Brown, so this week’s poll question is which Bomber should play in him?

In last week’s poll we asked how many games you thought the Bombers’ will win in 2009 and 34.85% of people predicted 11-12 games ahead of 26.97% with 9-10 games, 20.91% with 13-14 games, 13.03% with 5-8 games, 3.03% with 15+ games and 1.21% with less than 4 games.

Here’s what some of the fans had to say:

James Brown from Berwick, Vic says: We will win some games, but we won’t make finals. We’re looking like we are moving in the right direction, with plenty of depth across the board. I'd like to see Gumby and Prismall fit again and see if they can live up to the hype. 9 or 10 games is about the mark, with Richmond, Fremantle, Melbourne, West Coast and the Kangaroos teams are all teams we should beat.

Peter Castledine from Ferntree Gully says: If we keep playing the kids I think finals are not out of the question.

Maranatha from Ferntree Gully, Melbourne, Vic says: It might be too optimistic, even unrealistic, but apart from the match against the Saints in Round 8, the Hawks on Friday week and the Cats in Round 10, as well as three more interstate trips later in the year - I don't see why the Bombers can't win the required number of matches to make the finals. Depending on how the eight shapes up as the season progresses, we might need 12 to 13 wins to get in. Anything exceeding that would be a bonus.

Mawbz from South Australia says: Improvement on last year is all I want to see this year. Hoping that 2010 will be a great year for the Dons & supporters.

Neville from Nollamara, W.A. says: I feel we will have a similar year to 2008 and only beating the teams around us. (Freo, Bris, WCE, Carlton, Melb, Rich & Adel.) At the moment my biggest worry is the selection process of the club. Players in our 5yr plus bracket are not putting in consistently and we have not settled our ruck. Our skills are weak, which against the top 8 teams leaves us exposed. All of these things should have been sorted especially in our 5yr plus group. We have to stop rewarding non-performers and play our draft picks weekly for experience. So 5-8 wins looks likely if a fair but hard stance is not taken on poor performers.

Nzbaz from NZ says: I was disappointed after watching last week’s game and got negative. However negativity never gets you anywhere so I am looking forward to the improvement in skill levels and decision making that will take us into finals contention. Work hard boys. Go the mighty Bombers

George from Victoria says: Whoever voted 4 or less u know where already on three from 5!

Daniel Hines from SA says: Wow, if we can do it for Fletch then we are close to getting over the first option! I think we should be able to win 9 to 10 but if we can pull of some incredible efforts like the Blues and Pies then we may be a wildcard to sneak in the 8 and with strong players to come back in 09, (Welsh, Prismall, Gumbleton, Hurley, McVeigh) things are looking up for the EFC.
