Essendon enjoyed a solid main session as it prepares to face Hawthorn for the first game of the 2021 season.

The Bombers take on the Hawks in a blockbuster match at Marvel Stadium on Saturday night, with a healthy group of players vying for spots in the Dons' round one side.

Essendon's team for the match will be announced at 6:20pm Friday, March 19.
