Essendon defender Courtenay Dempsey has no intentions of leaving the club during the upcoming trade period.

The 27-year-old who has played 105 games in the red and black has one year to run on his current contract.

Dempsey’s manager Justin Reid said his client had no interest in leaving the Bombers.

“At this time of year there is a lot of things thrown around but I know for a fact that he is comfortable at Essendon and he enjoys it there,” Reid said.

“We heard that one as well which we found quiet bizarre. I think it was reported without any substances or homework.”

Dempsey played 18 matches throughout the 2014 season after being handed a club imposed suspension at the start of the season.

Reid said he had not even discussed a potential move with Dempsey over the last few weeks.

“We don’t really listen to much of the innuendo,” he told AFL Trade Radio.

“As we say to the players don’t believe what is out there whether that be on social media or in the papers.”

“I know the way we go about it is dealing with the decision makers, being black and white and then being able to pass that on to our clients.”
