Rising young-gun Jordan Ridley has been named in the 40-man squad for the 2020 Virgin Australia AFL All Australian team.
The nod from the All Australian selectors comes after a breakout season from the composed halfback, in which Ridley has already claimed the 2020 Crichton Medal, the Bombers’ Most Improved Player award and his first selection in the AFL Players’ Association’s 22under22 team.
Despite only having played nine senior games before this season, Ridley has become one of the most reliable defenders for not only the red and black, but also in the AFL.
An exceptional reader of the play, Ridley ranked third in total marks (110), fourth in total intercept marks (47) and sixth in marks per game (6.5) out of all players in the home and away season.
His marking is also backed up by supreme ball use, with Ridley possessing the fourth highest disposal efficiency percentage per game (87%).
The final team of 22 will be announced this Thursday, September 24.
