It’s hard to believe one of the competition’s most exciting midfielders is just 22 years of age.
Dyson Heppell yesterday cemented his long-term future at the club, after agreeing to a new five year contract extension.
Elevated to the club’s leadership group when he was just 21, Heppell revealed he would welcome the opportunity to captain the club he grew up supporting.
“I would love to lead this club,” Heppell said.
“I’ve been working on my leadership for the past few years and it would be fantastic to develop in to a really good, strong leader of this footy club.
“We’re so lucky we have Jobe as our captain of this club. I certainly want to learn as much as I can off him because he is fantastic for this group.”
Heppell also spoke of the close nature of the club's current playing group and their desire for success.
“We’ve got some fantastic young players coming through and we’re such a tight knit group,” he said.
“We are so hungry and driven to success as a group. Nothing else really matters.”
