The Essendon draftees and rookie list players were officially welcomed to the Essendon Football Club at an induction held in the Hall of Fame on Wednesday night. Among the speakers for the evening was Chris Heffernan. Returning to the Bombers after three seasons at Melbourne, Heffernan spoke about what returning to Essendon means to him and what sets the Bombers apart from the competition.

Returning to the Bombers after three seasons at Melbourne, Heffernan spoke about what returning to Essendon means to him and what sets the Bombers apart from the competition.
Second year player Angus Monfries also addressed the audience, explaining how he felt twelve months ago in the new draftees position. Summing up his first season, Monfries described the dedication and hard work involved in making it at senior level.
The 2006 draftees are Patrick Ryder, Courtenay Dempsey, Sam Lonergan, Austin Lucy, Jay Neagle, Scott Camporeale, Chris Heffernan, Richard Cole, Matthew Firman, Tim O’Keefe, Heath Hocking and Lachlan McKinnon.
