It's hard to believe but the 2010 NAB Cup starts next week with Essendon playing West Coast in Perth on Friday.

The Bombers are likely to unveil a new look team that could include plenty of young guns, like the highly rated Scott Gumbleton, so this week we ask 'should Matthew Knights play Scott Gumbleton in the 2010 NAB Cup?'

Maybe you think the 22-year-old should be given more time to build himself up before Round 1 of the regular season? Or perhaps you are like assistant coach Alan Richardson and think he needs to play plenty of footy during the pre-season. Click here to vote.

Last poll we asked 'what would be your main 2010 season Christmas wish?' and 41.6% of people wanted Essendon to beat Carlton and Collingwood two times this season, 26.2% picked Scott Gumbleton to play 12 games or more, around 16% picked Neagle to kick more than 40 goals, 9.6% are desperate for Jason Laycock to deliver on his promise, 3% of fans voted for Paddy Ryder to be named All-Australian and 3% would prefer Jake Melksham to win the Rising Star award.

Here is what some of the fans had to say:

Joseph Attard from Taylors Hill says: So so many options to choose from, I want all of these things to happen. But when it comes right down to it, the wins/losses area of the ladder needs to be fullfilled and defeating our arch rivals twice each is the dream of every Essendon fan!!!

Clifford Davison from Lalor Park, NSW says: For the poll I have to select one and with that in mind, I selected Scotty to play 12 or more games, however, I would have had one more category...all of the above cause I would love nothing more than to see all these things happen... :)

Andrew Day from Bairnsdale, Victoria says: I'm greedy I want them all but if we beat Collingwood & Carlton both times this season we are well on the way to the finals again and who knows we might even give the top 4 a shake. It would be great to see Laycock fire up as well because I reckon he can play.

Jan Di Pietro from NYC says: It would just be so good to finally see Scott play a full season and really start to solidify the spine of the team. I think his consistent inclusion could help out more than we think. PLEEEAAASSSEEE

Diane Trask from Bacchus Marsh says: If we can beat Collingwood and Carlton twice, hopefully that means we would tick most of the boxes in the poll anyway.

Samantha from Delahey says: Considering we play the top 4 teams twice, winning some of those games would be what we are after to keep us in the running for a top 8 spot. PREMIERS 2012!

John Calleja from South Australia says: Let's get behind Dustin [oldest AFL player in 2010] and cheer him with every possesion and lift his confidence to see him make the All Australian team ...never too old.

Elle from Broadmeadows, Melbourne, Victoria says: Beating Collingwood and Carlton not once but twice in the same year would have to be my wish. There is nothing better then seeing the look on the faces of blues and pies supporters when the greatest team Essendon belts them again!!!!

Gail Poynter from Bacchus Marsh Vic says: I lived in WA when Gumbleton was drafted by Essendon. We WA Bombers had great hopes for him. I am now back in Victoria and want to see the faith that we had in him rewarded

Daniel W from Aireys Inlet, Vic says: How can you pick between any of those wishes? Every Bombers supporter wants every one of those things happen. I think it is more likely that Michael Hurley will win the Rising Star over Jake Melksham. Some other wishes that could be made might be to see Darcy Daniher fill McPhee's spot or to see Jobe Watson win a Brownlow Medal. Of course, the best Christmas wish would be for the Bombers to win the 2010 Grand Final.

Nick from Mount Waverley says: This is the year that big Gumby has to get fit and step up

John from Gippsland says: To see the man Gumby dominate AFL football is my dream in 2010 god I have waited for so long to see this next club gun forward get onto the field in the Seniors. Also to see Willo get back to the form that saw him lead the Hawks goalkicking in 2005/06

Tim from vic says: Where is a premiership in this wish list?

Stephen Mc Ateer from Bangkok, Thailand says: I'll have all of them thanks ... oh, also Carlton to miss the top 8, Collingwood to be knocked out of the finals by us and is it too early to ask for flag # 17?

Vince from Victoria says: I'm surprised nothing about Micheal Hurley is up there. I would really like to see him win the rising star in 2010, he was the best player from the 08 draft but only played 10 games so couldn't really win it

Jess Whitehead from Wang, Vic says: Nothing better than beating Collingwood and Carlton! Carn the Bombers!!

James Brown from Berwick, Vic says: wow, hard decision. would love all of these things to happen. Laycock playing as well as he did early on would be great. Carlton and Collingwood being beaten is always fun (hopefully we can do it 3 times each next year (finals) that'd be awesome). Ryder is a gun and deserves recognition. Gumbleton getting on the park would be FANTASTIC. any player kicking over 40 goals will be great, Neagle especially and Melksham being an absolute gun would be the best thing since the 2000 grandfinal.

Greg Sloan from Somerville VIC says: If we beat Collingwood and Carlton two times each, that should mean we are playing good footy. And it might just mean that Laycock is playing good footy, Ryder gets all-aus' honours, Gumbleton plays all year, Neagle gets plus 40 and Melksham for the rising star. Why not wish for all?

Craigos from Vic says: I think Jason Laycock has always been overated. I think if he doesn't perform this year, then its time for him too go. Most important thing of all is for Gumby to string some games together. We need to establish a forward line this year, to have a crack at a flag next year. If Neagle doesn't stand up, lose some weight & show some committment like his old man, then it will be time for him to move on. You have the potential Jay, its to to put up or shut up. This year is the year to set goals, blood kids & set standards & plays for a tilt at the cup for next year. Lets go boys.

Josh Wargent from bris qld says: On my christmas list would be to see Hille as all australian ruckman. He's a bloody champion big man! Hope he has a great year.
