Essendon Football Club players have presented a $5,000 cheque to Neale Daniher as he continues the brave fight to find a cure for MND.
It was a unanimous decision among the playing group to allocate their AFLPA Players Care donations to FightMND.
Neale addressed the playing group before his nephew Joe Daniher handed over the Bombers’ donation.
“I’m really proud to be able to present this cheque to Neale on behalf of the Essendon playing group,” Joe Daniher said.
“We voted on which charities we wanted to donate our additional funds to and for the third year in a row, the entire group chose to support FightMND.
“Neale is a great Essendon person, he’s doing an inspiring job on the Fight MND front, and we wanted to show our support for him and the great work he is doing.”
Neale was diagnosed with MND in 2013 and since has raised over $30 million for FightMND.
In its fourth year, the FightMND Big Freeze will take place on Monday 11th June at the MCG, prior to the Queen’s birthday match between Collingwood and Melbourne.
This year all 18 AFL coaches will participate in the Big Freeze Slide for FightMND, including Bombers senior coach John Worsfold.
“It’s great to be able to support Neale in his journey to find a cure for MND,” Worsfold said.
“I hope everyone can contribute to the cause by donating to FightMND or purchasing a beanie.
“To have all 18 coaches sliding this year, shows the impact Neale has had on the AFL, and the respect the AFL has for him.”
