Young gun Andrew McGrath has been judged best afield by the coaches in the Bombers' three-point win over the Crows at Adelaide Oval on Sunday.

McGrath polled eight votes in the AFL Coaches Association's AFL Champion Player Award, edging out teammate Zach Merrett and Adelaide's Brodie Smith (seven votes each).

Defender Jordan Ridley again showed why he's one of the League's brightest young prospects, featuring in the votes for the fourth time this season with six.

Darcy Parish, who had an equal game-high 13 contested possessions, rounded out the Bombers' contingent with one vote.

McGrath earned top honours for his sensational performance in midfield which saw him set new career-highs for tackles (10) and clearances (eight).

The 22-year-old was instrumental in the win from start to finish, standing up in the dying moments as the Bombers defender their narrow lead.
