In a major boost for the Bombers' chances this weekend, Jobe Watson today successfully completed a taxing fitness test on his ankle.

The star midfielder now looks almost certain to line-up in tomorrow's crucial clash with Sydney at the SCG.

""Playing in Sydney is one of the great tests (in football) and we are looking forward to the challenge,"" football operations manager Paul Hamilton said today.

""He (Jobe) will be an important player for us at the SCG, there are always lots of stoppages and we know he is a good stoppages player.

""The final decision on whether he plays might not be made until tomorrow morning because it depends how he pulls up today but the signs are good.

""We would want to go in with a lot of confidence with him because it's not just about this week; it's the rest of the season too. It would be wrong for him to have to play at 80 or 90percent.""

Defender Henry Slattery said Mark McVeigh will be one to look out for this week.

""He was pretty devastated after letting the team down last week and he has worked really hard this week on the track and he will make a massive difference,"" he said.

Slattery said it is fantastic for the club that Michael Hurley will play his second game and added that Barry Hall will be a big loss for the Swans.

""He is one of their most experienced players .. he is very important to them but we can't relax,"" he said.
