Essendon supporters feared the worst when Joe Misiti was carried from the ground by the Bombers' medical staff last Friday night. Misiti was in excruciating pain and it appeared that whatever injury he had sustained was not only painful but very serious - perhaps even season ending. The good news is the injury is not as bad as originally predicted. ""Joe's injury is a mid foot sprain and we are hopefully that he will only miss the one game,"" fitness coach John Quinn said this morning. ""He was walking around at recovery yesterday morning and he can already apply pressure on it, which is a good sign.""

The other injury news to come out of the weekend was from the Bendigo Bombers match yesterday. The only sour point of the 27-point victory was the injury to Jordan Bannister. Bannister broke his collarbone in the second quarter and was immediately taken from the ground. ""The injury to Jordan is quite serious and usually takes around six weeks to repair. This is unfortunate news for Jordan because it could be the end of his season,"" Quinn said.

The good news to come from the VFL match was Aaron Henneman got through another game injury free. The 22-year-old returned to the team last week after spending the season on the sidelines. He played across half-forward and provided a strong marking target. He also spent time in the ruck in the second half. “Aaron is getting stronger each week and his match conditioning is improving. I don’t think it will be long until we see him back in the senior side,” Quinn said. Rookie Ben Haynes also performed well and showed no signs of the shoulder injury that kept him out of the first half of the season.

Dean Rioli still has one more week to serve of his three week suspension. He has been working exceptionally hard on the track to maintain his match fitness. Mark Mercuri also has one week to serve of his two week penalty. Both will further strengthen the playing list when they return next week.

Essendon will train today and Wednesday afternoon at Windy Hill in preparation for its Round 15 ""blockbuster"" against Adelaide. The team will travel to Adelaide on Friday morning for the clash that evening at AAMI Stadium. The Bombers will be aiming for their first interstate victory this season. They are yet to win on the road in 2003 after playing Brisbane (round 1), Fremantle (round 5) and Sydney (round 11).
