Lloyd believes on current form, Lucas could be the All Australian centre half back in 2003. Simon Madden has held the goal kicking record for over 12 years, but he couldn’t be happier to see Matthew Lloyd surpass his record and become Essendon’s greatest ever goal kicker. “It is nice to hold the record but realistically when you see a player like Matthew Lloyd come along you know it is only a matter of time until the record tumbles. I was really pleased for it to happen to Matthew. He has been a great footballer and it is fitting for him to hold that record. It is out of the way now and everytime he kicks a goal now it is the record. Hopefully there will be many, many more goals,” Madden said.
