Hutchison Telecoms is the company whose Orange brand has adorned all things Essendon for the past two seasons. But in 2003, football fans will notice something very different. Essendon Football Club has become one of the first of Hutchison’s sponsorship properties worldwide to expose its exciting new brand 3.

The 3 logo changes color in its normal electronic environment so in season 2003 Essendon jumpers, apparel, signage and stationary will reveal different colored versions of the same logo.

3 represents the exciting new world of third-generation mobile services that will enable you to get information, communication and entertainment on the move. You can experience your favorite sport without being there and set up reminders and alerts for wickets falling or goals scored.

You can play games in full colour. You can send and receive emails. You can organise your day, organise your night, find a restaurant, view a map and send all the details to your friends. 3 will let you stay in touch with your family, friends and colleagues through video calling, picture and video messages and email as well as voice.

This great new service will be introduced in Australia in the first quarter of next year.

“It’s a really exciting product and this club is pleased to have been selected to support the launch of Hutchison’s global brand,” Essendon marketing manager Mike McKenna said. “This club gives its sponsors excellent brand exposure and Hutchison have recognised that and chosen us to help push the 3 brand into the Australian market.”

Hutchison director of sales and marketing, Phil Wise, said the applications of 3 will be endless. “We are bringing together information, communication and entertainment in a mobile environment in ways that have never before been possible,” he said.
