Essendon has got through its torrid match with Collingwood relatively unscathed with no major injury concerns resulting from the match.

Fitness coach John Quinn put the players through a light recovery session this morning and all players appear to have pulled up well.

And the Bombers will need to be at their best against a fired up Brisbane Lions this weekend if they are to keep their unbeaten record in tact.

Quinn took the players out onto the Windy Hill ground for 15 minutes of walking and jogging before taking them to the swimming pool for a further 20 minutes.

Apart from the normal bumps and bruises, the players have pulled up extremely well.

Chris Heffernan and John Barnes both suffered cut faces during the Collingwood match but are certain starters this weekend.

Dean Wallis (bruised calf) and Dean Solomon (bruised back) will train Friday night and should have little trouble proving their fitness.

The Bombers will be fully tested by Brisbane this weekend and a number of factors point to the Lions liking their chances this weekend.

Firstly the Lions will have been stung by their loss to Fremantle and this match with Essendon now takes on renewed significance.

Essendon is also coming off an extremely physical clash with Collingwood with a short six-day break and having to travel to Brisbane.

The trip north is shaping as a very tough assignment for Essendon.
