Essendon Football Club has launched an exciting new partnership with celebrity chef and lifelong Bombers supporter Shannon Bennett.

Bennett, who is the head chef and owner of iconic Melbourne restaurant Vue de Monde, will design the menu at four of the club’s marquee Chairman’s function at the MCG next season.

Bennett said he was extremely excited to be joining forces with the Bombers in a new culinary partnership.

“I’m now basically involved in the club in a manner that brings both my passions for food and sport together,” Bennett said.

“I’ve always been a passionate Bombers fan so to be able to partner with the club is a bit surreal to be honest.”

The new partnership was launched on Monday night at Vue de Monde with around 100 guests attending an exclusive cocktail party.

Bennett said a similar concept had been launched successfully in England and he even flagged the possibility of one day opening a restaurant at the MCG.

“Yeah I think a pop up restaurant in the future would be extremely exciting and we’ve already got a great foundation to make it successful with the café at Melbourne Airport,” he said.

“Heston Blumenthal from the Fat Duck has a relationship with Arsenal Football Club and he now has a restaurant at their home ground and he cooks for the fans and the players.”

Essendon Football Club has also launched a new partnership with Treasury Wines which will become the club’s official wine partner for the next three years.

Treasury Wine Estates is the largest listed wine business in the world and one of its prized assets is the Wolf Blass brand – Australia’s number 1 wine brand.
