The start of the AFL season is only weeks away and if the preseason competition is anything to go by, it seems there may be a few surprises in 2008 with certain clubs or players going above and beyond early expectations.

Bomber fans have had the opportunity to tell us their predictions on what the new football season will bring in the Crystal Ball competition in which supporters nominate who will dominate the competition, who will win the Coleman and the Brownlow, and how many games Essendon will win this season.

So far there have been over 880 entries and let’s hope that early opinions are close to the mark when it comes to who will win the Coleman medal this year.  According to the fans, Matthew Lloyd is a clear favourite for securing the prized mantle of the competition’s leading goalkicker with seven percent of entrants assured the skipper can kick over 100 goals this season.

Richmond appears to be favoured to secure the wooden spoon this season, while the majority of entrants believe Geelong is the team to beat again this year.

Of course all will be revealed by the end of September, but for now it is time to look into your Crystal Ball and tell us what you think will unfold in the 2008 season.

The competition closes on Wednesday 19th of March at 5pm and the answers will be announced on Monday 4th of October. The first entry drawn with the correct answers to all 10 questions will win a guernsey signed by the 2008 team.

In the event that no one answers all 10 questions correctly, the first entry drawn with the most number of correct answers will be declared the winner.
