Essendon Football Club would like tocongratulate Kevin Sheedy on this weekend becoming the first person to reach1000 VFL/AFL games as a player and coach.
As part of the celebrations on Saturdayafternoon Essendon Chairman David Evans will be a special guest at GreaterWestern Sydney’s pre-match function before they clash with Port Adelaide.
Essendon coach James Hird said Sheedy hadplayed in an important role in the history of the Essendon Football Club aswell as his own career.
“You are a credit to the game, an amazingperson and everyone that comes into your life realises what such a specialperson you are,” Hird said.
“Your influence on myself and this clubhas been amazing, so thank you and good luck in your thousandth game.”
Sheedy, a four-time premiership coach atEssendon between 1981 and 2007, coaching 634 games in that time.
