Essendon members enjoy watching the Bomber boys set the pace on the football ground and now they have the chance to watch their very own horse do the same on the harness racing circuit. The Essendon Football Club has joined forces with Harness Racing Victoria to form the ""Bombers' Harness Syndicate"". Essendon Football Club's gaming venues at Melton and Windy Hill will lease and race two young pacers over the next three years. This syndication is FREE for Essendon members while still giving them the thrill of racing their very own racehorse. But we need your help naming one of these horses. There are great prizes to be won if you can come up with the right name for our horse. Read on for the full details.

The horse we need to name is a brown colt by Safely Kept out of Anasazi. It will be trained at Cranbourne by multiple Australian training premiership winners Jayne Davies and Noel Alexander. There is no stipulation on the name you suggest other than it can be no longer than 18 characters (including spaces) and you can't duplicate a name that already exists. All you need to do now is come up with somethign creative and email your suggested name and contact details to windyhillsocialclub@essendonfc.com.au The top six entries will be submitted to Harness Racing Victoria and a name accepted. Whoever suggested the final name will win dinner for four in the Members Dining Room at a Moonee Valley Harness meeting. The prize includes admission, a racebook, a three-course meal and first class facilities. The five runners-up will receive $50 gift vouchers to the Bomber Shop. Entires close on Wedensday, November 14th at 5.00pm.

All training fees will be paid by Harness Racing Victoria and the prizemoney raised will be donated to a chartiy to be designated by the Windy Hill Social Club as well as being utilised in venue promotions. And early indications are that the designated charity is going to benfit greatly from this syndication. The two pacers wer ehandpicked by two of the world's leading breeders, Alan Galloway of Alabar Bloodstock and John Bagshaw of Castle Family Pty. Ltd. Both horses have just turned two and will hit the racetrack in early 2002. The early reports suggest they are shaping up as two impressive racing prospects. So get the creative juices flowing and come up with a great name for this latest baby Bomber!
