Kevin Sheedy hasn’t backed down from his post match comments saying that the team needs to get more from its bench and he has added fuel to the fire. ""I did it on purpose – because I think there is a lot of improvement in us if we get those 22 selections correct,"" Sheedy said. ""At least we have opened up three selection opportunities – that keeps everyone vibrant and on their toes, so no one would want to muck up.""

Sheedy wouldn’t be drawn on what players he was referring to, but said that they now know what is the standard required this week. ""They probably got a good feel for what is expected now, so it is important that they realise their opportunity,"" he said.

Adam McPhee was a noticeable omission from the training track last night, the 21-year-old made a brief appearance but wasn’t involved in the skills session. Sheedy said at this stage McPhee is a 60% chance of playing and was adamant that he wouldn’t be played unless 100% fit.

In other injury news, Dean Rioli walked laps at training yesterday afternoon and Sheedy ruled the Bomber utility out of selection. ""Rioli won’t play this week. I don’t know how bad it is (hamstring), but it got sore so we decided to back off,"" Sheedy said.

Sheedy wouldn’t hint at which players he would bring in, but suggested that a fully fit Joe Misiti is in the mix. ""Joe is a good chance, but no better than anyone else who is in and around the team selection.""

Sheedy refused to comment on Geelong’s form in its 55-point loss to Port Adelaide on Sunday. ""It is a hard gig over there. We have gone over there and been beaten, it is not easy. But it has nothing to do with me how Geelong play, it is how we play.""
