In other injury news, Steve Alessio played a half of football in the VFL and will be considered for selection this week. Mark Mercuri is also expected to be available for selection having missed the past eight matches with a groin injury. He will face a fitness test later this week. Aaron Henneman is also expected to complete a full week of training and be available for selection. Jordan Bannister will miss one week after injuring his ankle in Saturday's VFL clash with Bendigo.
Essendon has overcome a stubborn Fremantle side to record an important 21-point win and move into sixth place on the AFL ladder. A bright start from the Bombers saw them hold sway for most of the day with Matthew Lloyd kicking four goals and Blake Caracella finishing with three in a dour match. The Bombers' superior firepower proved decisive in the final term as they ran away from the Dockers to win 13.15 (93) to 10.12 (72).
