The Bendigo Bombers had a fantastic win yesterday against Port Melbourne by 18-points. It was the team's second victory for the season and the first win the Bendigo Bombers have tasted at Queen Elizabeth oval this year. It was close all game but a four goal final term by Bendigo sealed the victory against the second top side. ""It was a fantastic win beating Port Melbourne. It was Bendigo's first win in Bendigo for three years so it was a very, very positive day for us,"" said Bendigo Bombers coach Peter Banfield.

In his fourth performance for the season Jobe Watson was best on ground. The 18-year-old notched up 30 possessions across half-forward and has put himself in contention for senior selection after the bye weekend. ""Jobe has made some significant improvement over the last few weeks. He has been out of most of the season because of injury problems. Over the last four weeks he has really started to show some improvement with his fitness and against Port Melbourne he was very solid for four quarters. He was fantastic for us across the half-forward line and his ability to go and win the hard ball is very strong,"" Banfield said.

Ted Richards was another strong performer. After being demoted from the seniors Richards starred at centre half forward for the Bendigo Bombers and finished his good work with four goals. ""He has a tremendous work rate and he provided us with a fantastic target. He ability to find space and contest everything was significant. He took eight marks across half forward. It was a very good game from Ted,"" Banfield said. ""Like most of the Essendon players that played they all came back and played well. They all have great character and their performances will certainly put them in consideration for the next senior game.""

Rob Forster-Knight is another player that will be pushing for senior selection for the Round 13 match Geelong. After two senior games he was relegated to the Bendigo side. ""Rob was fantastic against Port Melbourne. He played on Shannon Motlop who has probably been Port's best player for the past few weeks. Shannon had 35 touches last week and in previous week had been instrumental in Port's good form. Rob kept him down to 10 possessions and he had 16 himself. It was a very, very strong performance from him at this level.""
