In a brilliant show of support, Essendon's membership base continues to swell in the build up to season 2008. As of today, Essendon's membership is up 5% or 1,363 members compared with the same time last year.

The membership currently sits at 28,419.

It is a magnificent sign for the Bombers as they prepare to embark on a new era and a result that has given the new coaching panel and young playing group a real confidence boost.

""This Club has a real challenge in front of it to get better on field and we have made some changes to try and address that issue,"" Essendon Managing Director Peter Jackson said.

""Change always brings a sense of anticipation and things have changed on a number of fronts.
""I think members are looking forward to watching the progress of players like Scott Gumbleton, Leroy Jetta, Alwyn Davey and Paddy Ryder.

""There will be some frustrations along the way but there will also be some excitement.

""I know the players and Matthew Knights have really appreciated the support.

""This will be a very challenging year for the Club - we are under no illusions about that and the members understand that as well. But we can feel more confident about tackling what lies ahead with such fantastic support.""
