After a convincing win against Melbourne, assistant coach Ashley Prescott says the comeback game of Andrew Welsh and the performance of Brent Prismall was a massive boost for the Bombers' midfield and was an instrumental factor in the win.

Speaking on Weekend Rewind, Prescott said there is real depth developing in the midfield group with seven players rotating through the middle on weekend, particularly now with former Cat Prismall adding to the line up.

“Brent Prismall looks set to play a significant part in our midfield; he has great hands and really complements Jobe Watson as we have some fantastic outside players,” he said.

“Sides will put a lot of attention on Jobe - as they did again on the weekend - and there were guys like Prismall, McVeigh and Welsh who could step up and help him out.

“I’d like to think Henry Slattery could play in the midfield and we know that Heath Hocking can too.

“All of a sudden we’ve got a very flexible group of players that can go through different positions and when that starts to happen you have more flexibility on game day and we become harder to plan against also.”

Prescott is looking forward to the blockbuster game against Carlton this Friday night, believing the Bombers have much to prove in front of what is sure to be a sell out crowd.

“I think this will be five wins in a row against Carlton if we can do it. There is a lot of work to do as Carlton is red-hot at the moment, they were very good and did everything but win their last game (against St Kilda),” he said.

“Playing against an old rival like Carlton brings a smile to your face, I’m sure the supporters will be looking forward to it too.

“We need to go out there and attack from the start of the game; we’ve had a good record at the MCG in the past, so bring it on.”
