Creative midfielder Michael Ross admits life in the city is “vastly different to his hometown of Garfield in Gippsland but is confident of settling in quickly to life at Bomberland.

Recruited from the Gippsland Power after being taken at pick 80 in last week’s National Draft, Ross is known for his exceptional speed and swift decision making abilities on the field.

“In my junior days I played down forward but I have developed into playing a half back, midfield type position whilst playing with the Power in the last couple of years,” Ross told Bomber.tv.

Growing up idolising Ben Cousins’ abilities as a player, Ross hopes to replicate his hard work and commitment to getting the small things right at training.

“It seemed like he [Cousins] never stopped working and I look up to the way in which he reads the ball and the play,” Ross said.

Ross admits his first days at the club have been daunting as he is surrounded by some of his AFL heros and has compared his nerves to his first day of school.

“It was daunting when we first arrived but our first training session was great. We only did the warm up and the first drill so they held us back a bit to ease us in but I thoroughly enjoyed our first session under Hirdy and the new coaching panel,” said Ross.
