Friday night's 94 point loss to Hawthorn was the Bombers' biggest loss of the season.
Hurley has not played since injuring his hamstring in round 15's 71-point loss to St Kilda.
But as the Bombers manage a series of soft-tissue injuries, coach James Hird said Hurley was likely to return for next week's crucial match against Adelaide at AAMI Stadium.
""Michael Hurley got through his running today and looks like he'll come back in. Stewart Crameri is obviously there as well,"" Hird said.
""Tayte Pears is up for selection, Cale Hooker is up for selection and Sam Lonergan. There's some experience there to come back in but I'm not sure it's personnel-based. We have to work out how to play the game better.""
Hooker and Crameri were both late withdrawals from Friday night's loss, with Pears surprisingly overlooked to replace Hooker in defence.
But Hird said he felt Pears was underdone as the Bombers take a cautious approach with recovering players.
""We think Tayte needed another week, just to get some confidence in his body,"" he said.
""He played very well last week in the reserves, but I'm pretty reluctant to throw up guys who haven't done a lot of work and missed some work.""
Hird said it was hard to find answers for exactly why Hawthorn was so much better than his team on the night.
The Hawks booted the first eight goals of the game and finished with 27 for the night without star forward Lance Franklin.
""They seemed to be running better than us, spreading better than us and the way we defended the ground meant even though we were having a few forward entries, as soon as it was going in it was coming out far too quickly,"" he said.
""That's been Hawthorn's strength but it was a very poor part of our play today.""
Hird said the previous week's heavy defeat at the hands of Geelong may have played a part in his team's dismal output.
""I can't put my finger on exactly why we performed the way we did today just yet. I thought last week Geelong's pressure (last week) beat us and probably got into our heads a bit,"" he said.
""This week it was a very different story. It will be interesting to look at the tape and see which guys wanted to defend and which guys didn't want to and why it went the way it did.""
