The Tiwi Bombers have won their first matchfor the NTFL season defeating Southern Districts by four points at NorbuiltOval in Darwin.

In a thrilling and bizarre finish, thecrowd and players were left unsure who had won on the final siren with thescoreboard indicating the game was a draw. Officials eventually confirmed theTiwi Bombers had won the game and made the perfect start to their premiershipdefence.

It was a special moment for a group ofEssendon players Dyson Heppell, Courtenay Dempsey, Ricky Dyson, ArielStienberg, Luke Davis and Hal Hunter invited into the Tiwi rooms to join in thevictory song after the game.

Dyson said it was an amazing experience tobe in the huddle.

“What an unforgettable experience,” Dysonsaid.

“At first the song was in English but thenthey launched into a verse in native tongue and we just tried to join in thebest we could.

“They love their footy and it was great tobe part of their first win of the season.”

Dyson Heppell delivered a stirringpre-match speech to the Tiwi players in the rooms and the players held asigning session for local supporters at half time.

The players will today travel to visit theremote communities on the Tiwi Islands as part of the Club’s trip to the topend, proudly sponsored by Antler Luggage.
