The one certainty about trade week is that half your list will be mentioned as ""done deals"" at one time or another. The other certainty is that almost every story you hear will be wrong. Speculation, rumour and innuendo is rife but there is nothing concrete to report. What we can tell you is that Essendon recruiting manager Adrian Dodoro says the next 24 hours is when it all happens.

""The next 24 hours is when everything starts to happen but right now I’m not sure we will be involved in any deals. That of course can all change in a hurry,"" Dodoro said. ""We have looked at getting involved in a couple but I don’t want to speculate in what capacity. Everyone is trying to do the right thing by their club and that is fair enough but the bottom line is, if you want a good player you are going to have to give up a good one.""

Newpaper reports this morning suggested Port Adelaide were interested in getting Bomber deputy vice captain Mark Johnson to the club as part of a deal that would see Josh Carr head to Fremantle and Essendon pick up the Dockers Ryley Dunn and draft selection 11.

""Port Adelaide have expressed an interest in Mark but that doesn’t suddenly mean we are prepared to trade him,"" Dodoro said. ""A lot of names get thrown around at this time of year. I think players understand it comes with the territory. The trade week finishes tomorrow and we can all get on with life.""
