Essendon footballers will again join forces with some of the best Twenty20 cricketers in Victoria for the Australia Day Goes GLoBALL cricket match at Windy Hill on Thursday 26 January.

Bombers players will test their batting and bowling skills alongside cricketers from both the Melbourne Stars and the Melbourne Renegades Big Bash League teams in a ten-over-a-side match.

This is the perfect way to celebrate the Australia Day public holiday with sporting fans having the chance to see their favourite footballers and cricketers battle it out in celebration of the GLoBALL program.

GLoBALL is a program coordinated by the Essendon Football Club and Cricket Victoria which allows international students and new migrants the chance to interact with the Victorian community all year round by undertaking cricket and Australian Rules football related activities.

The main aim of the GLoBALL initiative is to promote social inclusion, a sense of belonging and celebrate diversity.

There will be a number of modified rules for the game including:

- Each player must bowl one over
- Batsman bat in pairs and face two overs
- Teams lose three runs every time they lose a wicket and the batsmen must then swap ends
- Essendon players can’t go out first ball or LBW
- The Stars and Renegades cricketers must run every time they hit the ball
- Essendon players can dismiss the Renegades or Stars batsman if they catch the ball one hand after one bounce.
