Essendon continue to strengthen its commitment to providing the club’s supporters the latest Bomber news as it happens.
In an AFL first, the club have invested in a department specifically designed to drive supporter engagement through digital media platforms. It also aims to enhance the supporter experience on match days.
Essendon fan development manager Nick Truelson said the new department aimed to change Essendon’s communication with supporters from a monologue into a conversation.
“Ultimately we want our supporters to be able to engage and build two-way relationships with the club and players, but more importantly with one another,” Truelson said.
“The building of a long-term, committed community of Essendon fans is a key area of growth for the club. The department will deliver engagement opportunities with fans through content of choice, via platform of choice and provide multiple avenues for fans to become key advocates and stakeholders in building Essendon into the premiere sporting and entertainment organisation in Australia.
“With the rapid growth in digital technology, it‘s important that we are providing an innovative and interactive match-day experience - not just for the fans who are attending matches but also for the ones who are watching from home on TV, online or on their mobile phone.”
This week also marked an exciting milestone for the AFL’s only independently owned website – essendonfc.com.au - with supporter comments ticking over the 50,000 mark.
