Essendon trio Tayte Pears, David Hille and Scott Gumbleton are all recovering well following minor operations this week.

Pears experienced pain from a previous foot injury and it was decided another operation was required.

General Manager Football Operations Paul Hamilton said the surgery was a success.

“Tayte had a spur removed from his foot and essentially that was really good news and the best possible finding they could have asked for,” Hamilton said.

“It has been a long time since Tayte has trained at full pace so we have to be a little bit patient. But we expect him to be back running with the main group in the New Year,” he said.

David Hille required minor surgery on his knee and the outlook is positive for a swift recovery.

“It was really successful surgery, that’s probably the main thing for David and we are confident that he’ll be able to resume full training in four weeks,” Hamilton said.

Scott Gumbleton’s latest injury setback required a minor operation on his knee and he is also expected to be back training in a month.

“It wasn’t a major problem and there wasn’t any ligament damage, it was just a little bit of a cleanup that had to be done,” Hamilton said.
