Here is what the fans thought of Johns’ 2008 season:

Joseph Attard - Courtney Johns had an abysmal year and a horrid run with injuries.

Caleb Slade - Once again had an injury ridden season that ended up with a knee reconstruction. A typical Sheeds draft punt that just couldn't get his body right despite the talent he has.

John Harink - Body never let him play consistent high standard footy. Hope he gets an opportunity to play at state level.

Peter Williams - It's such a pity that injury prevented you from being able to produce your best footy at Essendon. Good luck for your future.

Sasha Andelkovic - Had the strength and muscle but injuries hurt him and most of all he lacked a football brain. Had potential to good.

Dean Liersch - Project player that didn’t work. Not good enough for our side and had a bad run with injury. Wish him well.

Natalie Young - Great player but I believe he just needs a chance to prove that he is good enough. Give him a chance Knights. Sheedy did!!

John Poke – It’s been a disappointing season for Courtney. I wish him well in his future.

Colin Duck - It's sad to see a bloke who has tried so hard and faced so many obstacles just fail to achieve his just rewards.

Philip Martin - I think injury has been a big problem, without the injuries I think Johns would have been a top player, so unlucky.

Peter Bonfa - Didn't see a place for him in our team but I think he can be a reasonable player for another club. I am glad we got rid of him.

Julian McGuire - Injury plagued career hid the fact that he couldn't actually play AFL-level football.

Nicholas Morrey - Was terrible. With or without knee injury he wouldn't have stayed on the list.

Tina Saccone - A player that never really flourished - a pity!

Barry Douce - In the Henneman, Bradley, Laycock mould. Always gonna, never does and always injured. All the best Courtney and thanks for trying.

Mark Elze - Too many injuries and unfortunately just not up to AFL standard. Big and strong but just lacked the mental toughness needed to make the grade. Too slow and not footy smart.

Ricke Dovey - I feel sorry for Courtney. He's had a terror run with injury. Showed great courage coming back from his injuries. I wish him all the best and hope he gets picked up by another team!

Jeff Hammond - Although he lacked opportunities, even when in the firsts, he has not come through with the goods hoped for. He had a difficult start to his career and was given a chance. I wish him all the best for the future as he could be a great 2nd level player but not at AFL level.

Connor Hagliassis - Not his best year, but limited games and injuries cost him. I think he did okay in the games he played.

Trevor Swain - Looked good three years ago but has been played in defence in two's. Neagle and Gumby have much better potential but huge effort to get where he did considering his hip woes.

Rachelle Bransgrove - Once again failed at senior level and was dealt another cruel blow when he injured his knee. Hopefully he gets another chance at another club.

Michael Mirra - CJ had a disappointing year and virtually going no-where with his footy. Should consider playing footy only for Bendigo Bombers in 2010 as this will suit him best. Forget playing for other AFL clubs!!!
