Sam Lonergan says the side needs to quickly learn from Friday night's poor performance at Subiaco and move onto Sunday's big ANZAC Day clash with Collingwood.
He said Essendon would need to fire right from the start of the game and put pressure onto an inform opponent.
""It's right from the word go next week and we have to stay positive and really have a go at it,"" he said to Bomber.tv.
""We had a great win last weekend against Carlton, and to come over here (Perth) and I guess miss the opportunity to walk home with the four points is always very disappointing.
""The five goals towards the end of the game was a great effort, but it was too little too late and we understand that as a group.""
The 23-year-old said the only way to over-come the club's poor interstate record is to develop a team capable of playing consistent football.
""At the moment we’re one and three so on the road or not on the road it’s a lack of consistency, and we’re playing football so that’s what we need to step up every week,"" he said.
""It’s important for us to understand as a group that we’ve really got to bounce off each other and really rely on one another to get through the next couple of days.
""You know, it’s going to be tough when you hear some supporters or the criticism when walking through here (Perth Airport) .. but we understand that our own supporters back in Melbourne are really going to stand up for us.
""We also understand that we’ve got to move forward and we all understand that and we had a bit of a chat after the game and spirits .. have been great and that’s the way it’s gotta be because next week is the one that counts.""
Lonergan, who has played 39 games, says Anzac Day is a great opportunity to get the season back on track.
""It’s publicised (Anzac Day) is a massive game and it is for us and the meaning behind it is incredible. I guess we have to sit back and not get too involved in the outside stuff and really concentrate on those four points once again,"" he said.
""We want to play finals footy and whether there’s six-million people watching next weekend .. or two-million people watching, at the end of the game it’s the four points that we want to walk away with.
""I am sure in the lead up to it we’ll have a few good speeches and some guests come into the club and chat to us.""
